Cong protests against filing of ED charge sheet

The city Congress unit today held a protest march against the filing of charge sheets against party leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and others in a case registered by the Enforcement Department (ED) under the PMLA Act.

The workers, led by local unit president HS Lucky, condemned the action of the ED. Rajiv Sharma, chief spokesperson of the Chandigarh Congress, stated that today’s protest was part of nationwide agitation announced by the All-India Congress Committee to peacefully protest against the ‘abuse of law enforcing agencies and subversion of the Constitution’ by the government. The agitated activists were carrying placards denouncing the ‘vendetta’ politics while raising slogans against the government.

Speaking on the occasion, Lucky stated that the ED had filed a charge sheet in a strange money laundering case where no money had been transacted.

Cong rattled: BJP leaders

The BJP Chandigarh media in charge, Sanjeev Rana, has termed the protest of the Congress leaders as a clear sign of the party’s nervousness and public admission of guilt. “This is the same Congress that ran the country like a private club for decades. And now, when agencies are asking questions based on evidence, suddenly they’ve started worrying about democracy and the Constitution,” he said.

Rana stated that, “The Congress’ behaviour is like that of a student caught cheating in an exam, claiming that the teacher holds a personal grudge.
