Bhopal: 15 Injured As Private Company Bus Overturns Near Barkatullah University

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): About 15 people were injured when a bus overturned after colliding with the road divider on Narmadapuram Road close to Barkatullah University on Wednesday afternoon.

The bus belonged to a private company and was carrying its staff. Four persons received serious injuries, police said.

Bag Sewania police rescued the passengers with the help of locals and admitted them to a nearby private hospital. Condition of a passenger Vikram Shukla is said to be critical while driver Hemant, Anil Meena and Manoj Yadav also received severe injuries.

Bag Sewania police station incharge Amit Soni said the bus driver lost control when it reached near BU at around 2.35 pm. The bus first hit the road divider and then overturned. Police force rushed to the spot and started rescue work soon after receiving information. Five persons have been admitted to the hospital. Other passengers received minor injuries. Investigations are underway to know the exact cause of accident, he added.

Locals informed that bus was carrying employees of a distillery at Mandideep when another bus tried to overtake it following which the driver of the bus that overturned lost control on the steering.

A person who received injuries claimed that they were going to Mandideep from Anand Nagar. The driver of another bus tried to overtake our vehicle. Driver of our bus tried to apply brake but had to take the bus on the road divider in a bid to avoid collision, he added.

A traffic jam prevailed on Narmadapuram Road following the incident. Police called a crane and got the damaged bus removed from the road.
