After Bangadesh THIS Muslim country to bans entries of Israeli amid Israel-Hamas war in Gaza, not Pakistan, Malaysia or Middle East nation, name is…

After Bangladesh, another country has also banned Israeli passports and for this an amendment has been passed in the Maldives Parliament to ban Israeli passports. According to media reports, the Parliament of this country today voted in favor of amending the Immigration Act, which bans entry for those traveling on Israeli passports until atrocities against Palestine stop. The proposal to ban Israeli passport holders from entering the into the nation was introduced by opposition its Opposition.

Maldives on Wednesday banned people from Israel to enter its country. The move was initiated by Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) MP Mikail Ahmed Naseem on May 29 last year. The Maldives Parliament passed the bill after nearly 308 days after it was reviewed and passed in the Security Services Committee (Committee 241) yesterday. According to reports, the bill has been passed unanimously in the Parliament. However, many major changes have been made in the bill before it is passed. The biggest change is the removal of the clause in the bill which states that Israeli passport holders, including those with dual citizenship, will also be banned from entering the Maldives.

The bill passed in the parliament bans only those who travel to Maldives on Israeli passports. This change was brought in response to Maldives Immigration informing the committee that this is the only way to implement the bill. According to the bill, Israeli passport holders can also enter the country, provided they have dual citizenship and are traveling on the passport of another country. Although the MDP opposed this change in the debate, they also voted in favor of passing the bill. Maldives has called on the international community to work towards ending the ongoing ‘genocide’ in Palestine. Although the parliament has passed the bill today, the Maldives cabinet of ministers had earlier decided to ban entry for Israeli passport holders.

Relations between Maldives and Israel have never been good. However, there have been many disturbances in the relationship between the two countries. When Maldives gained independence in 1965, Israel was one of the few countries that first recognized Maldives. But the Muslim population of Maldives has always been against Israel.

There have been limited diplomatic relations between Maldives and Israel and many Israeli agricultural scientists and medical experts are also employed in Maldives. Earlier in 2014, after the attack on Gaza, Maldives had banned visas to Israeli people.
