JEE Main and JEE Advanced exam for IIT, CAT exam for admission in IIM and UPSC Civil Services Exam to become IAS or IPS, all these three exams are considered to be one of the toughest exams in India but there are some bright students whose aim is always accurate, no matter which exam it is. The success story of IAS Divya Mittal is one such story, who after studying from IIT, IIM did a high paying job in London and then after returning to India fulfilled her dream of becoming an IPS officer in the first attempt and then an IAS in the second attempt. Not only this, her husband Gagandeep is also an IAS officer.

IAS Divya Mittal, a resident of Rewari, Haryana, was the DM of Deoria district of UP in March 2025, before this she has held the post of District Magistrate i.e. DM in Mirzapur and Sant Kabir Nagar districts. She passed the IAS exam in the second attempt with 68th rank in the year 2012 and before that she became an IPS officer by cracking the UPSC Civil Service Examination in the first attempt.

IAS Divya’s husband Gagandeep is also an IAS officer in UP and he fulfilled his dream of becoming an bureaucrat in the very first attempt.

Before this success story of becoming civil service officers, both the husband and wife had high-paying jobs in London but soon they had home-calling and they decided to return to India.

Both Divya and Gagandeep decided to leave their jobs abroad and return to the country. During this time, Divya was working in the prestigious JP Morgan company in London.

After returning to India, the couple started preparing by staying in Delhi without any formal coaching and finally, both husband and wife fulfilled their dream of becoming IAS officers .

IAS Divya Mittal completed her graduation with B Tech from IIT Delhi by cracking the JEE exam. After this, she cleared the CAT exam and did her MBA from IIT Bangalore.
