Will Rohit, Virat Keep Their Top BCCI Contracts? Update On Announcement Date

The Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) central contract announcement, which is usually released between February and March, has seen an unusual delay this year. However, a report in Sports Tak now suggest that the updated list could be unveiled within the next one to two days.

No changes likely in A+ category

Despite speculation around Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja — who recently retired from T20Is after the T20 World Cup 2024 win — the BCCI is reportedly not planning any changes in the elite Grade A+ bracket.

The current A+ list includes Kohli, Rohit, Bumrah, and Jadeja, all of whom are likely to retain their positions.

"We have almost finalised the new contract for players in all categories, and it will be issued in the public domain soon in a day or two" a top source from BCCI told Sports Tak on the condition of anonymity. "After the England tour, a new contract will be formalised, keeping in mind the recent performance of the player's" the source added.

A few names might be added to the A+ contract list on a later date.

"It's likely to be the same, and a few new arrivals may be added on a later date. The coach and selectors have given their opinion, and we will close it soon" the source said.

Shreyas Iyer's return on cards

Shreyas Iyer is expected to make a return to the central contract list. He was India's top run-scorer in the Champions Trophy 2025 and has continued to perform consistently in domestic cricket.

Ishan Kishan's return remains uncertain. Both players were dropped from the previous contract list due to their absence from domestic cricket, but Iyer's recent performances have reportedly tilted things in his favor.
