'Deliberate Insult': Christians Demand BAN On Sunny Deol's Jaat Over Randeep Hooda's Controversial Church Scene

Sunny Deol's latest release, Jaat, has been accused of hurting the religious sentiments of the Christian community with a scene showing actor Randeep Hooda inside a church. Christians across India have now sought a ban on the film, and they have also warned of protests and action against the film's cast and crew if the demands were not met.

According to a report in India Today, the Christian community has objected to the scene in which Randeep's character can be seen standing inside a church, right beneath the crucifix as people prayed. The scene allegedly depicts "acts of intimidation and hooliganism", and this did not go well with the members of the community.

Representatives of the community reportedly said that the scene is a "deliberate insult" to their faith and that it disrespects the sanctity of the church. They also said that the scene might portray people of the community in a negative light.

Members of the Christian community had reportedly planned a protest outside theatres, seeking a ban on Jaat, but after police intervention, they decided to give the makers a two-day ultimatum. They have warned that if the film is not banned or the scene in question is not removed, then they will intensify their protest outside theatres.

The makers of Jaat are yet to issue an official statement on the fiasco.

Jaat released in theatres on April 10, 2025, and it marks Sunny Deol's return to the big screens after 1.5 years, his last film being the blockbuster Gadar 2. However, Jaat failed to recreate the Gadar 2 frenzy, and it was on Tuesday that the film crossed the Rs 50 crore mark.

Besides Sunny Deol and Randeep Hooda, Jaat also stars Vineet Kumar Singh, Regina Cassandra, Urvashi Rautela, Saiyami Kher and Ayesha Khan in key roles.
