AAP MLA Kaka Brar urges students to honour teachers in viral video amid ‘Punjab Sikhya Kranti’ scrutiny
Days after AAP MLA from Samana, Chetan Singh Jouramajra, publicly rebuked a government school principal and blamed the staff for their alleged failure in the ‘Punjab Sikhya Kranti’ programme, and later apologised for it, his party colleague and AAP MLA from Muktsar, Jagdeep Singh Kaka Brar, on Tuesday earned accolades from various quarters by urging students to uphold respect for teachers and calling them second parents.
In his public speech at Government Senior Secondary School at Thandewala village here, which has now gone viral on social media, Kaka Brar said, “Parents should teach their children at home to respect teachers. If a student doesn’t learn to respect teachers today, he or she will not respect even his or her parents in the future. If you respect your teachers, you will learn many things in the worldly life. A student who wakes up each morning thinking that he or she must make his or her parents and teachers proud, will never stray from the right path.”
Notably, Brar’s remarks have come at a time when the state government’s flagship programme ‘Punjab Sikhya Kranti’ is under the scanner.
