Man held with 70 cough syrup bottles, Nitrazepam tablets

A man was arrested with 70 bottles (100 ml each) of Codeine Phosphate and Triprolidine (Onerex syrup) and 530 tables of Nitrazepam in Rohru subdivision of Shimla district, the police said here today. The accused was identified as Saju Rai (27), a Nepal native, presently residing at Purola in Uttarakhand.

According to reports, a Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Rohru police was on patrol duty when its members stopped the accused for checking. During checking, the police recovered the contraband from the possession of the accused after which he was arrested immediately.

Confirming the report, Pranav Chauhan, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Rohru, said a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, was registered against the accused and further investigation initiated into the matter. He said the accused would be presented in a court.
