Can bring privilege motion against leaders for misleading on Negi’s death case: Minister

Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh today said that the state government could bring privilege motions against leaders who were spreading misinformation and trying to politicise the issue of the death of Vimal Negi, former Chief Engineer of Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (HPPCL), as well as levelling the allegations of corruption and irregularities in several solar projects. He was responding to the allegations made by MLA Bikram Singh recently regarding Vimal Negi’s mysterious death.

Anirudh, while speaking to mediapersons on the sidelines of the Himachal Day celebrations, said that a case of hatching conspiracy against the government could also be registered against such leaders for misleading people.

Bikram Thakur at a press conference recently had levelled serious charges of corruptions and irregularities in the Pekhubela solar project. Anirudh rejected Bikram Singh’s allegations and said that the MLA should not make accusations without solid evidence. He added that the MLA should bring paper proof to prove his charges. “He should first visit Gujarat as the solar plant there has not yet started while the solar plant in Himachal Pradesh has been commissioned,” he claimed.

The minister said that the project was made operational before Vimal Negi joined the HPPCL. The solar project was commissioned in April while Negi joined the HPPCL in June. “Negi had asked for posting in the HPPCL” he added.

Anirudh said that the Chief Minister, during the recent Budget session, had addressed the issue and presented all relevant documents in the House and Bikram Singh should also do the same to support his charges. “Negi’s demise was unfortunate. However, his death should not be politicised as it will hurt the sentiments of his family,” he added.
