Get addicted to God, not drugs: MP to youngsters
BJP Rajya Sabha MP Ram Chander Jangra flagged off a cyclothon event on Tuesday. The event aimed to promote the message of a drug-free Haryana.
Rohtak Deputy Commissioner Dhirendra Khadgata was among those present at the ceremony.
Rohtak Additional Deputy Commissioner Narendra Kumar and City Magistrate Ankit Kumar promoted the message of a drug-free Haryana by riding bicycles at the event.
At the farewell ceremony, Haryanvi singer Amit Saini Rohtakiya exhorted youngsters to stay away from drugs through a performance on the MDU campus in Rohtak.
Jangra exhorted youngsters to get “addicted” to the name of God and the service of their parents instead of falling prey to intoxicants.
“Guru Nanak Dev had stated that there was no greater intoxication than the name of the almighty,” the MP said, adding that youngsters should include yoga and pranayama in their lives.
He said, in view of the increasing reports of drug-addiction in the state, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini had started Cyclothon 2.0 to save the youth of the state from the evil of drug addiction.
“The youth of Punjab have fallen prey to drug addiction, and keeping the youth of our state away from the menace is the need of the hour,” he said.
Rohtak Mayor Ram Avtar Valmiki also flagged off
the cyclothon.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Narendra Kumar thanked the participants of the cyclothon, and said, with the cooperation of people, the cycle ‘yatra’ would be successful in achieving its objective.
He appealed to parents to ensure that their children stayed away from all kinds of addiction.
Dr Ashok Kumar, a participant of the cyclothon, administered an oath against drug abuse to the attendees. He said information about the sale of drugs should be given to the NCB through helpline number 9050891508.
