Mumbai to Ahmedabad travel time to reduce as Railways plans another train before launch of Bullet Train, top speed to be…, name of train is..
New Delhi: Good news for those eagerly awaiting the Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train! While the 320 kmph bullet train is still developing, passengers will soon experience a faster journey with trains running at 160 kmph. Currently, the fastest train on this route has a maximum speed of 130 kmph, however, the railways have completed preparations to operate trains at the enhanced speed of 160 kmph.
The Indian Railways has taken a slew of measures to reduce the travel time between states. The authorities have initiated work to cut the travel time between Delhi-Howrah and Delhi-Mumbai. The total length of the Delhi–Howrah route is 1,450 kilometers, while the Delhi–Mumbai route spans 1,386 kilometers. A budget of Rs 3,950 crores was allocated to the Western Railways for the project.
According to the reports, the Western Railway has constructed a fencing wall (similar to beam barriers on highways on both sides of the track) along the 595-kilometer Mumbai–Ahmedabad section at an estimated cost of Rs 226 crore. With this wall in place, animals such as cows and buffaloes will no longer be able to enter the tracks.
To enable trains to run at a speed of 160 km/h, the entry points of 126 bridges have been reinforced using geo-cells. According to sources, an update on the Mission Raftaar project was also shared with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
Here are some of the other details:
- The approval has been granted to increase the sectional speed on the Delhi–Mumbai route to 160 km/h, according to the Ministry of Railways.
- This project is now in its final stage.
- With the increase in train speeds between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, passengers will save travel time.
- It is estimated that the travel time of the Vande Bharat Express will be reduced by around 45 minutes.
Key infrastructure upgrades completed so far include barricade fencing along 565 kilometers of track, track upgradation, signaling improvements on 126 railway bridges, and installation of overhead wires.
According to Western Railway, the speed of trains like the Vande Bharat, Shatabdi, IRCTC Tejas, Double Decker, and Delhi–Mumbai Rajdhani on the Mumbai–Ahmedabad route will increase from 130 km/h to 160 km/h.
