Rs 1.20-cr development works inaugurated at 17 govt schools
Under the ongoing Punjab Sikhiya Kranti initiative aimed at transforming government schools across the state, development projects worth Rs 1.20 crore were inaugurated today in 17 government schools across the Kapurthala district.
Member of Parliament Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal inaugurated a boundary wall constructed at a cost of Rs 4 lakh at Government Primary School, Mughal Chak, in Bhulath. He also unveiled similar infrastructure projects at Government Primary School (Rs 1.60 lakh) and a series of development works worth Rs 9.6 lakh at Government Girls High School, Dhillwan. Additionally, a new boundary wall built at an estimated cost of Rs 9.6 lakh was inaugurated at Government Primary School, Miyani Bakarpur.
At Government Primary and Middle School, Talwandi Mahima, Chairman of Punjab State Warehousing Corporation, Gurdev Singh Lakhna, inaugurated development works worth Rs 4.66 lakh, including repairs and the construction of a boundary wall. He also inaugurated repair works worth Rs 8.02 lakh at Government High School, Jawalpur, and unveiled Rs 24.02 lakh worth of development projects at Government Senior Secondary School, Sidhwan Dona.
In Phagwara, senior AAP leader and former minister Joginder Singh Mann inaugurated a new sports stadium and additional classrooms constructed at a combined cost of Rs 8.91 lakh at Government High School and Government Primary School, Chahedu. He also dedicated a boundary wall and a new sports track worth Rs 1.19 lakh at Government Senior Secondary School, Nangal Maja, along with an additional classroom and boundary wall worth Rs 7.51 lakh and Rs 1.25 lakh, respectively, at Government Primary School, Basti Taroki.
In Sultanpur Lodhi, Chairman of the Improvement Trust, Sajjan Singh Cheema, inaugurated a boundary wall worth Rs 12 lakh at Government Primary School, Khurd. He also unveiled an additional classroom built at a cost of Rs 6.26 lakh at Government Primary School, Lakhwaria, and inaugurated development works worth Rs 19.14 lakh — including additional classrooms, sports track and a boundary wall — at Government School, Busowal.
The ceremonies were attended by several dignitaries, including Director of Water Resources Department Harsimran Singh Ghumman, SDM Devi Goyal, Mayor Rampal Uppal, Joint Secretary Gurpal Singh Indian, SDMs Major Irwin Kaur and Jashanjeet Singh, Chairman Jagjit Singh, among others.
