Himachal witnessed remarkable development since attaining statehood, says Dharmani
Minister of Town and Country Planning, Housing, Technical Education, Vocational and Industrial Training Rajesh Dharmani today unfurled the national flag at Reckong Peo in tribal Kinnaur district during celebration of the 78th Himachal Day. Addressing gathering on the occasion, Dharmani said, “Kinnaur district as well as entire Himachal has witnessed remarkable development since it attained full statehood.”
While reiterating that state government’s commitment for inclusive welfare and sustainable development, Dharmani said, “The present state government is determined to make Himachal Pradesh a green energy state by March 31, 2026, achieve self-reliance by 2027, and transform into the most prosperous state in India by 2032.” He said despite financial challenges, the Congress government accelerated development and mobilised additional financial resources.
“As part of the state government’s efforts to strengthen the rural economy, for the first time minimum support price for milk, naturally grown wheat, maize and turmeric has been announced,” he said.
The minister further said
Rs 1.30 crore was spent in 2024–25 to promote technical education and development initiatives aimed at empowering local youth with vocational skills in Kinnaur district. “A proposed budget of Rs 7.02 crore has been allocated for enhancing the quality of education, while Rs 2.37 crore has been earmarked for improving healthcare services,” he said.
To promote industrial activity in Kinnaur district, Rs 2.45 crore was allocated and another Rs 90 lakh sanctioned for the development of tourism, youth and sports activities, he said. Through the Himachal Pradesh Skill Development Corporation, Rs 16.54 lakh was spent on skill training programmes, benefiting 70 individuals, the minister said. Earlier, the minister took salute from parade that included contingents from the ITBP, Himachal Pradesh Police, Home Guards , Home Guards band, NCC, NSS and Scouts and Guides. A vibrant cultural programme was the highlight of the celebration. The minister also felicitated parade participants and performers on the occasion.
