Liquor Mafia On Top Among 6 Organised Crimes In State, 98,000 Cases Were Registered Across State Against Sale Of Illicit Liquor

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): For past one year, the police have been focusing on six types of crimes in the state, which are liquor mafia, land mafia, sand mafia, ration-food black marketing mafia, chit fund companies and adulteration mafia.

Accordingly, police have taken action against them in the state. In 2024, maximum numbers of cases were registered against liquor mafias followed by sand mafias. The police took the maximum action against liquor mafias in the past one year wherein more than 98,000 cases were registered at police stations across the state against sale of illicit liquor.

Police arrested more than 1.26 lakh people in the cases and confiscated more than 15 lakh litres of illicit liquor. At the same time, action was taken against sand mafias. In 2024, 636 cases were registered by the police wherein 664 four-wheelers were caught and more than 20,000 cubic metres of illegal sand was seized.

Out of this, owners of 446 vehicle were penalised. Similarly, 247 cases were registered by the police against land mafias across the state. Ration black marketeers were also on the target of the police. In 2024, 108 cases were registered by the police against ration black marketeers in which 30 people were arrested. Along with this, illegal food items worth more than Rs 3 crore were seized from them.

Nine crimes were registered against 13 people who cheated people in the name of chit fund companies. The police also took action against those involved in sale of adulterated substances. Cases were registered against seven persons in 2024 and four persons were arrested. Adulterated substances worth Rs 5.20 lakh were seized from them.
