Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has come out in support of fellow actor Salman Khan, whose latest film Sikandar underperformed at the box office and received lukewarm reviews. Akshay, who is busy with the promotions of Kesari Chapter 2, dismissed the negativity surrounding Salman’s recent outing, offering a heartfelt defense of his long-time friend and colleague.

During an interaction with HT City amid the promotions of Kesari 2 in Delhi, Akshay was asked about the failure of Sikandar and how films of big stars are not performing well these days.

To this, Akshay replied, "Dekhiye yeh galat baat hai. Aisa hai, aisa ho nahi sakta hai. Tiger Zinda hai aur hamesha rahega. Salman aisi nasal ka tiger jo zindagi mein kabhi marr nahi sakta... Vo mera dost hai and he will always be there."

Salman's Sikandar, which released on the occasion of Eid, failed to live up to audience expectations and struggled at the box office, sparking conversations around the actor's box office pull.

It may be noted that the camaraderie between Akshay and Salman goes back decades, with both having shared screen space and mutual respect over the years. They have worked together in films like Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Jaan-E-Mann and Tees Maar Khan.

Sikandar's box office failure

The big-budget action-entertainer's total earning now stands at Rs 109 crore.

Meanwhile, Akshay is currently busy with the promotions of Kesari 2 with Ananya Panday and R Madhavan.
