Arjun Kapoor reveals why he is a huge fan of Apple TV+ series 'Ted Lasso'

Arjun Kapoor has professed his love for the Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso. In a conversation with Chalchitra Talks, the Bollywood actor acknowledged the soothing impact the Jason Sudeikis-starrer has on him.

In the show which recently completed three seasons, Sudeikis, who also co-created it, plays an incompetent American football coach hired deliberately by the owner of a fictitious English Premiere League soccer for the latter's personal reasons.

Speaking about what drew him to the show, Arjun Kapoor says the titular character could smile through life's setbacks and more. "In a world which is so cruel, so bitter, so competitive, and so negative as ours, you meet a man who knows all that and still has a smile on his face," said the Sandeep aur Pinky Faraar actor.

Kapoor feels that Ted Lasso's appeal is further heightened by the fact that the character deals with his anxiety, aside from several other shortcomings like not being the "best husband" and the "best coach," adding that he also "deals with the fact that he is emotional about other people leaving him and he allows them to go."

Calling Ted Lasso a "beautiful show in the garb of a football coach," Kapoor observes that it's eventually about a man trying to deal with today's society today. "He is perhaps not cut out to be born in this era; he is like a dessert so sweet that you enjoy him because in a world full of all these serious slasher shows there's a man who is serving you philosophy in a very nonchalant, positive, happy manner and it somehow resonates with the characters in the show, and therefore it resonates with you because you become one of the characters listening to him. We are always used to the friction of a person not knowing what his problems are. This man knows that he doesn't know anything about football or Britishers, and doesn't know he got this job. But he is a good human being, and he wins over people with his goodness."    

One of the most popular shows on Apple TV+, Ted Lasso garnered 61 Primetime Emmy nominations and won 11, in addition to several other prestigious accolades.
