About World Voice Day 2025
The voice plays a crucial role in human life as it allows us to communicate with others and share our thoughts, emotions, ideas, and more. It helps us to form connections with the people around us, build relationships, and foster social interaction. World Voice Day aims to increase public awareness about vocal health, the importance of the voice, and the prevention of voice-related problems.
Voice is a powerful tool that helps to understand people's identity. The tone and pitch of the voice convey a wide range of emotions, including happiness and sadness. A strong and positive voice can make a positive impression on others, both in personal and professional life.
History of World Voice Day
World Voice Day is observed annually on April 16. The significant day started with a small celebration in Brazil in 1999, which was named Brazilian National Voice Day. A group of voice care professionals in Brazil initiated National Voice Day, which aimed to raise concerns related to voice-related issues. This day brought together physicians, speech-language pathologists, and singing teachers.
However, this celebration later spread to other countries like Argentina and Portugal. The day was then changed from Brazilian National Voice Day to International Voice Day. Later, the American Academy of Otolaryngology (the study of diseases of the ear and throat) acknowledged the celebration in 2002. From then onwards, the day was known as World Voice Day.
