Palghar Woman Successfully Thwarts Robbery Attempt At Home, Nabs One Of Two Intruders

Palghar: A woman in Palghar city exhibited remarkable bravery on Monday evening, successfully thwarting a robbery attempt at her residence and even managing to apprehend one of the two intruders who attacked and injured her, according to police reports released on Tuesday.

About The Incident

The incident unfolded after the woman and her husband returned from their customary evening walk near a local beach. Upon entering their home, they were confronted by two thieves who had already gathered gold jewelry and other valuable items.

Palghar police station inspector Anant Parad informed the Free Press Journal that the sudden arrival of the couple caught the intruders off guard, prompting them to attempt an escape. However, the woman acted swiftly, grabbing hold of one of the fleeing suspects and attempting to restrain him.

In a bid to break free, the captured intruder struck the woman on her hand with a spanner, causing injury. Undeterred by the pain, the resilient woman maintained her grip and immediately raised an alarm, alerting neighbours to the unfolding situation.

Responding to her cries for help, neighbours rushed to the scene and assisted in holding the captured intruder until the police arrived. Meanwhile, the woman's husband pursued the second thief, who unfortunately managed to evade capture.

Local residents promptly informed the police, who reached the location and took the 40-year-old intruder, held by the woman and her neighbours, into custody. The injured woman received medical attention for her injuries and is currently recovering.

Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the arrested individual under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) pertaining to housebreaking, theft, and robbery. Inspector Parad stated that efforts are currently underway to locate and apprehend the second suspect involved in the attempted robbery.
