‘Tanvi The Great’, Anupam Kher’s second directorial, to debut at Cannes Film Festival

Over two decades after his directorial debut, celebrated Indian actor Anupam Kher will take his next project to premiere at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. Tanvi the Great will debut on the Parisian carpet at the Marché du Film, known as the “Cannes Market”, where the entire cast and crew will be present.

Kher took to Instagram to share the news, with a poster that featured the tagline, “A story from India for the world.” In addition to the grand premiere at the Cannes, the film will also screen in London, New York, and Los Angeles.
The plot of the film, which has remained mostly under wraps, was given in glimpses in a first-look teaser released earlier this month. The clip shows a girl Tanvi packing her belongings and shifting to a new place. Though her face remains hidden throughout the teaser, we see her playing the piano and capturing moments on her phone.
The film is produced by Anupam Kher Studios in collaboration with National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC).

In a statement to the PTI, Kher said, "I've always wanted to create a film with a universal theme, one that transcends boundaries and connects with hearts everywhere. Tanvi The Great is a story born from deep passion and purpose. It's a film from our hearts, and I believe it will resonate just as deeply with audiences in Ahmedabad as it will in America.”
Kher also roped in M. M. Keeravani, who won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for RRR’s Nattu Nattu, to compose the musical score for the film. "Having Oscar-winner M. M. Keeravani bring this story to life with his musical genius has been a true blessing. His artistry has elevated Tanvi The Great in ways I had only dreamt of. I am truly humbled to present Tanvi The Great, our labour of love, to the world," he concluded.
