New Delhi: In a concerning development, Yemen’s Houthi rebels’ armed forces (YAF) have launched a brutal missile attack on Israel. According to the reports, Houthi rebels’ armed forces used drones and hypersonic missiles in this attack. These strikes targeted Israeli military bases. YAF spokesperson Yahya Saree stated in a statement that their forces fired “Palestine-2” and “Zolfaghar” missiles at Israel. Yahya Saree also claimed that drones were used in the attack. The Israeli army has claimed that the missiles were successfully intercepted.
Yahya Saree is the spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF) led by the SPC, a rebel faction of Yemen’s armed forces affiliated with the Houthis. In his statement, he said that the Yemeni Armed Forces carried out an operation against Israel. This operation involved the use of hypersonic and ballistic missiles, as well as drones. Yahya Saree stated that missile strikes targeted areas under Israeli occupation.
Claim of Drone Reaching the Target
According to Yahya Saree’s statement, two ballistic missiles were launched from Yemeni territory. One missile was fired at the Sdot Micha Airbase located in the eastern Ashdod region. The second missile targeted the Ben Gurion Airport located in the Yaffa region. In addition, an important site in the city of Ashkelon was also targeted using a drone. The Houthis have claimed that the Israeli facility was completely destroyed in the drone attack.
Yahya Sari emphasized that they inflicted heavy damage on enemy bases and military installations using advanced missiles and drones. However, Israel has not acknowledged any damage. According to a Reuters report, the Israeli army said that their Arrow defense system successfully intercepted the Houthi missile attack.
