UP: Shopkeeper Brutally Beaten With Sticks Over Land Dispute, CCTV Footage Goes Viral; FIR Registered
Lakhimpur: A shocking act of violence linked to a land dispute unfolded in broad daylight in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur on Monday (April 15) morning, when a group of men stormed into a cold drinks shop near the LRP outpost and brutally assaulted the shopkeeper with sticks. The entire incident, captured on the shop's CCTV camera, has since gone viral on social media.

According to a Dainik Bhasker report, the victim, identified as Jagdish Kumar, resident of Chauch village, had opened his shop at around 7:53 AM when the attackers barged in. He identified the assailants as Rajesh Verma, his son Rohit (both from Chadamau Purva), and Anuj Verma from Chauch. Armed with sticks, they began beating Jagdish without warning.
“The moment I opened my shop, they arrived and started hitting me with sticks,” Jagdish told the publication. Hearing the commotion, local residents rushed to the scene, forcing the attackers to flee. Before escaping, they allegedly issued threats to kill him.
Suspected Land Dispute Behind the Attack
As per the report, the victim told police that the assault stemmed from a long-standing land dispute with the accused. He also claimed that after the initial attack, Anuj continued to hurl abuses and threats at his family from within the village.
In the viral CCTV footage, the assailants can clearly be seen entering the shop and launching the violent attack, supporting the victim’s statement.
Following the incident, police reached the spot and registered an FIR against four named individuals and some unidentified others based on the victim’s complaint. “The injured businessman has been referred to the district hospital for medical treatment,” officials told the publication.
The police is currently investigating the matter and have assured that the accused will be arrested soon.
