Mukesh Ambani’s wife Nita Ambani is a philanthropist and businesswoman. She owns an IPL team Mumbai Indians. But, not many know that she started her career as a teacher. Even after marrying Mukesh Ambani in 1985, Nita continued serving as a teacher at Sunflower Nursery School, Mumbai.

Nita, who was the daughter-in-law of Dhirubhai Ambani, earned Rs 800 per month from her teaching job. On the ‘Rendezvous with Simi Garewal’ show, Nita confessed some people laughed at her when she used to teach, but she admitted that the job gave her satisfaction.

In the same interview, Mukesh Ambani also threw some light on good old days saying that money that Nita used to get, paid for ‘all their dinners’. “And all that salary was mine,” he told Simi Garewal with a laugh when Nita Ambani said “I was paid Rs 800 a month.”

While she may no longer be a full-time teacher, Nita Ambani still has a passion for education. Today, she runs the Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Mumbai, named after her late father-in-law.

In August 2023, Nita resigned from her position on the Board of Directors of Reliance Industries (RIL), while retaining her role as the Chairperson of the Reliance Foundation. She lives with her family in the skyscraper private building, Antilia, which is also the second-most luxurious and expensive house in the world.
