Sarpanch’s mom-in-law found murdered in house

In a shocking broad daylight incident, an elderly woman Ram Pyari (67), mother-in-law of Hardaspur village Sarpanch Balwinder Kaur (BJP), was allegedly found murdered under mysterious circumstances at her residence this afternoon.

According to Phagwara SP Rupinder Kaur Bhatti and DSP Bharat Bhushan, who visited the scene, the victim had been living alone in her house in village Hardaspur. Four students were reportedly residing as paying guests on the upper floor of the same building. The deceased’s son, Binder Kumar, informed the police that his two brothers are currently settled abroad.

The DSP revealed that two empty cups and sweets were found near the crime scene, suggesting the possibility that the victim may have been offered something before the attack. Injury marks were visible on her neck and mouth and an almirah in the room was discovered open. Gold ornaments, including three rings the victim was wearing, and cash were reportedly missing.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that unidentified miscreants may have targeted the victim for her valuables,” DSP Bhushan stated.

Bhatti confirmed that the body had been sent to the local Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Bhatti said it had to be ascertained yet as it was natural death or a mysterious murder. Forensic experts had also been summoned to assist in the investigation. The police have registered a case under relevant sections and are actively pursuing leads.
