Two women among 6 arrested for robbery
The Gurugram police have arrested six people, including two women, for allegedly luring a man under the pretext of providing an escort service, before assaulting and robbing him.
According to police, the victim filed a complaint stating he had booked a room in a hotel in Chakkarpur to stay on Saturday night. Later that evening, he came across a contact number for escort services online and reached out via WhatsApp. Shortly afterwards, a car arrived near the hotel and he got inside.
However, once inside the vehicle, the people in the car immediately began demanding money. When he refused, he was
beaten up.
“There were four men and two women in the car. After beating me, they took my mobile phone and demanded the password. Once they got it, they transferred money online from my account and then fled, leaving me on the roadside,” the victim stated in his complaint.
Following his report, an FIR was registered at the Sector 29 police station. Acting on the complaint, a police team arrested all six suspects later that night from the Sector 39 area.
The arrested accused have been identified as Muskan, a native of Uttarakhand; Lalita, from Uttar Pradesh; and four men — Saurabh Arora, Pradeep Meena, Sonu Chaudhary and Jai Prakash Sharma — all hailing from Rajasthan.
“We have recovered a car and a knife used in the crime from the possession of the accused. A previous case of robbery has also been registered against Pradeep Meena in Gurugram. We are currently questioning all the accused,” said a Gurugram police spokesperson.
