IB officer robbed at knifepoint, 2 land in police net
Two auto-rickshaw drivers were arrested for allegedly robbing an Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer at knifepoint near the RK Ashram Marg traffic signal here, an official said on Monday.
The accused, identified as Akhtar Raja (41) and Ghulam Raza (25), executed the robbery in the early hours of April 11 after following the victim from a bar in Paharganj.
Sharing details, Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Devesh Mahla said the complainant, Manish Pandey, who works as a security assistant executive with the IB, was waiting for an auto-rickshaw around 1 am at the RK Ashram Marg traffic signal. Two accused reached there and robbed him at knifepoint.
“The accused took his wallet containing his debit card, credit card, Aadhaar card, voter ID, CGHS card and Rs 1,500 in cash,” the officer said.
A case under relevant sections of the BNS was registered at the Mandir Marg police station. The police scrutinised the CCTV footage from the area.
“A suspicious auto-rickshaw was identified. Its driver, Akhtar, was tracked and apprehended,” the officer said.
During questioning, Akhtar confessed to his crime and revealed that he and Ghulam executed the robbery.
The police recovered the knife used in the crime and the auto-rickshaw from their possession. The accused, who are auto drivers by profession, originally hail from Kishanganj district in Bihar.
Delhi
