Divine delights: Baisakhi fair shines bright at Kaleshwar Mahadev
The state-level Baisakhi fair at Kaleshwar Mahadev reached its peak on Sunday, drawing a record-breaking crowd of devotees and visitors. Thousands gathered to take a holy dip in the Beas and a sacred bath in Panchtirthi, seeking blessings from Lord Shiva at the revered Kaleshwar temple.
Long queues of devotees formed in the temple premises from early morning. People of all age groups arrived from various regions to offer prayers and take part in the special rituals. The temple was beautifully decorated for the occasion, adding to the spiritual atmosphere of the event.
This year’s fair witnessed unprecedented attendance. Shilpi Beakta, Dehra SDM and mela committee chairman, along with Chirag Sharma, Pragpur Tehsildar and mela committee in-charge, ensured smooth management with support from multiple departments. The Beakta SDM confirmed that the event concluded successfully and peacefully, with vibrant cultural activities marking the celebration.
The first cultural evening was held in a grand and enthusiastic setting. Jwalamukhi MLA Sanjay Ratan inaugurated the festivities by lighting the ceremonial lamp. The evening featured electrifying performances by emerging and renowned artists including Nitish Rajput, Raj Jerry, Varsha Katoch, Gaurav Koundal, Dinesh Kumar Bedi, and Anuj Sharma. Their fusion of traditional Pahadi melodies and modern music kept the audience engaged and entertained.
People of all ages enjoyed the cultural programme, which celebrated the state’s rich heritage. The fair concluded on April 14 with Vivek Sharma, MLA Kutlehar, as the chief guest. The grand success of the event reflected both the deep-rooted cultural significance of Baisakhi and the coordinated efforts of the local administration.
