Sond pays tribute to Ambedkar, highlights govt’s key initiatives

Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond today reiterated the AAP government’s commitment to Dr BR Ambedkar’s ideals, noting the historic implementation of reservation in the Adovcate General’s Office, the induction of six SC ministers and the streamlined distribution of SC scholarships.

He offered floral tributes at Dr Ambedkar’s statue at the District Administrative Complex and later addressed a seminar at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University. The seminar was organised by the district administration in collaboration with the university.

The Minister was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Dr Sona Thind, SSP Shubham Aggarwal, Fatehgarh Sahib MLA Lakhbir Singh Rai and Bassi Pathana MLA Rupinder Singh Happy.

During his address, Sond described Dr Ambedkar as more than a leader—calling him a vision, a movement and a mission. He said the Constitution drafted by Ambedkar laid the foundation for democracy and the protection of citizen rights.

He emphasised the power of education in transforming lives and credited Ambedkar for embedding its value into the social fabric. Highlighting the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme, he said many students have benefited and continue to do so.

Poster-making and declamation contests on themes of social justice, constitutional values and women empowerment were also held. Winners were felicitated by the minister.

Vice Chancellor Dr Pritpal Singh, DC Dr Sona Thind, SSP Shubham Aggarwal and local MLAs also spoke at the seminar.
