Floral tributes, educational seminars mark Ambedkar’s birth anniversary in Chandigarh

Floral tributes were paid to Dr BR Ambedkar and seminars were held at various events held across the city today to mark his birth anniversary.

UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria also paid homage to Ambedkar. In his message, he said Baba Saheb always envisaged Indian solutions to Indian problems in keeping with the interests and the needs of our people.

“His contribution in drafting the Constitution of the world’s biggest democracy is unique. Baba Sahib’s entire life was dedicated to achieve the objectives of social justice, equality and emancipation of the poor and downtrodden,” he recalled.

The Administrator said Baba Saheb’s empowerment of the powerless was exemplary, adding, “His stress on inclusion for the poor and marginalized has always been an inspiration to us.”

The main function was held at Ambedkar Bhawan in Sector 37 where a large number of people gathered to pay floral tributes at Ambedkar’s statue.

Congress, BJP remember ‘architect of Constitution’

The Congress party’s city unit commemorated Ambedkar’s birth anniversary of at the Congress Bhawan under the leadership of HS Lucky today. Dozens of Congressmen paid tributes to the architect of the Constitution.

Speaking on the occasion, Lucky recalled the rich legacy of the visionary leader, social reformer. “He dedicated his life to eradicating social inequalities and the marginalised. His relentless fight against caste discrimination and advocacy for the rights of Dalits, women, and workers continue to inspire generations,” a speaker at one of the events said.

The local of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organised programmes, seminars, and public awareness campaigns at all booths and mandals across the city to pay tributes to the architect of the Constitution and a symbol of social justice and equality.

At every booth, floral tributes were offered at Ambedkar’s portrait.

BJP Chandigarh president Jitender Pal Malhotra said: “Dr BR Ambedkar was not just the architect of the Constitution but the voice of upliftment and justice for the marginalised in India.”
