Ambedkar Jayanti 2025: Over 9,400 Visit Airoli’s Knowledge Memorial; Events, Tributes Mark Day Of Celebration

Thousands of citizens flocked to the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Knowledge Memorial in Sector 15, Airoli, on the occasion of the social reformer's birth anniversary,

Over 9,400 people is reported to have visited the memorial by 6 PM. Cultural processions and rallies from various parts of Navi Mumbai also stopped at the site to offer tributes before continuing their routes.

Maharashtra's Forest Minister, Ganesh Naik, also visited the memorial and paid homage to Dr. Ambedkar. 

Since its inauguration on December 5, 2021, the Knowledge Memorial has attracted continuous public interest. "Over the past three years, a staggering 3,61,445 visitors have officially registered their presence at the site. The memorial has earned acclaim from scholars, speakers, and intellectuals across the country for being a unique tribute to Dr. Ambedkar's legacy," informed an official. 

One of the major attractions is the well-equipped library, featuring over 5,000 books written by or about Dr. Ambedkar and other notable figures, available in Marathi, Hindi, and English. The facility also includes an advanced audio-visual e-library, offering a valuable resource for researchers and general readers alike. A Special Constitution Gallery allows visitors to explore a replica of the original Indian Constitution and access detailed literature on constitutional subjects.

As part of the celebrations, a special lecture series titled “Jagar” was held from April 2 to 13, drawing an overwhelming response. A candid interview with acclaimed actress  Chhaya Kadam and the interactive session “Bhima Tujhya Janmamulay…” featuring dynamic young speakers like Adv. Nikhil Adsule, Anand Bansode, Suraj Waghmare, and Ashwin Nandapurkar received a tremendous response. 

Other highlights of the memorial include a rare photo gallery depicting Dr. Ambedkar’s life through archival images, a holographic presentation recreating his speeches, and a large meditation hall accommodating up to 200 individuals." These features continue to inspire and educate visitors, turning the memorial into a beacon of progressive thought and social empowerment," said an official.
