Kia Syros Secures 5-Star BNCAP Safety Rating for Adult and Child Protection
New Delhi — Kia India’s latest SUV, the Syros, has achieved a 5-star safety rating under the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP), reinforcing the company’s growing reputation for prioritizing passenger safety. The Syros scored 30.21 out of 32 in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and 44.42 out of 49 in Child Occupant Protection (COP), placing it among the safest vehicles in its segment.
Designed as a premium SUV catering to diverse consumer segments, the Syros sets a new benchmark with its safety credentials. It comes equipped with over 16 autonomous safety technologies, including ADAS Level 2, and features a comprehensive 20-point active and passive safety package as standard.
The vehicle has undergone a rigorous set of crash tests to earn its rating, including the Offset Deformable Barrier (ODB) frontal impact at 63.95 km/h, Mobile Deformable Barrier (MDB) side impact at 50.17 km/h, and a Pole Side Impact at 29.17 km/h. The results underline the SUV’s robust crashworthiness and its capacity to safeguard occupants in various real-world scenarios.
Commenting on the achievement, Gwanggu Lee, MD & CEO of Kia India, said, “Safety is not just a feature—it is a philosophy embedded in Kia’s DNA. The Syros receiving the prestigious 5-star BNCAP rating reflects our commitment to building some of the safest and most trusted vehicles for Indian consumers.”
He added that the company remains focused on bringing global safety innovations like ADAS Level 2 to a wider audience in India, furthering its goal of delivering safer, smarter, and more sustainable mobility solutions.
The Syros joins Kia India’s evolving lineup of next-generation vehicles—such as the EV9 and Carnival Limousine—that combine technology, performance, and safety. Kia has also made six airbags standard across its entire product range and continues to enhance its offerings with features like Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), and connected car technology with Over-the-Air (OTA) updates.
Since beginning operations in 2019, Kia India has dispatched nearly 1.6 million vehicles from its Anantapur facility, including over 1.2 million units sold domestically. With more than 4.5 lakh connected cars on Indian roads and a strong dealership network of 725 touchpoints across 315 cities, Kia continues to strengthen its footprint in the country.
The 5-star rating for the Syros marks a major milestone in Kia’s journey to become a leader in automotive safety in India.
