Fatehgarh Sahib District’s 34th Foundation Day Celebrated

The 34th Foundation Day of Fatehgarh Sahib district was celebrated with great fervour and devotion by leading NGO Haa Da Naara Chetna Manch, under the leadership of its patron and former minister Dr Harbans Lal.

Dr Harbans Lal, who played a pivotal role in securing district status for Fatehgarh Sahib during his tenure as MLA, recalled the historic moment on April 13, 1992, when the Beant Singh-led government officially declared it a district on the occasion of Baisakhi. He highlighted that the district was dedicated to the people of Punjab in honour of its martyrdom heritage, where the young Sahibzadas of Guru Gobind Singh Ji were bricked alive.

Dr Lal also outlined key developments since the district’s formation, including the elevation of Bassi Pathana to sub-division status, and Khera (Hansali) as a block. He emphasised the expansion of roads, and the upgrading of schools, hospitals, and dispensaries in rural and urban areas. Four memorial gates were also built to honour those who contributed to the district’s progress.
