Season 4 of 'The Lincoln Lawyer' begins filming, to deal with Mickey Haller's 'most personal case'

Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, who plays defense attorney Mickey Haller, will return for a new (the fourth) season of The Lincoln Lawyer, which is currently filming in Los Angeles. Based on the Michael Connelly novels, the Netflix series was a hit with fans who took an instant liking to its characters. The fourth season is reportedly based on Connelly's sixth Lincoln Lawyer book The Law of Innocence, and will have 10 episodes.
Sasha Alexander (The Morning Show, Shameless) and Constance Zimmer (UnREAL, Entourage) have been cast. Addressing the cliffhanger of the last season, co-executive producer and co-showrunner Ted Humphrey told Netflix that the show will tackle "broad strokes of what specifically has happened and what charges — and adversaries — Mickey is facing," calling it the "biggest and most personal challenge Mickey has ever faced, and also the biggest roller coaster we’ve yet taken our audience on."
Humphrey shared his satisfaction at directing the beginning portions of Season 4 — the first two episodes, to be precise: "As a director, I was so happy with how the third season finale turned out, and I am also directing the opener of Season 4 so it feels like we are picking up right where we left off, which is really fun for me and also creatively very satisfying.”
Season 4 will be, according to him, Haller's "most personal case" and all the advice that he used to give his clients will have to be used on himself now after what happened in the last season. "He realizes how hollow some of it sounds when you’re the one it’s bouncing off of. He’s got to deal with how this impacts not just him but also his family and loved ones, not to mention his business! But don’t worry — he’s going to have help from some of the people our audience loves the most, as well as some familiar faces who will be cropping up along the way — some helpfully… some perhaps not so helpfully, and a few new ones as well.”
A previous movie adaptation of The Lincoln Lawyer came out in 2011, starring Mathew McConaughey. The first season of the series is based on The Brass Verdict, the sequel to the book that became the source material for the McConaughey film. The second season, released in two parts, was based on The Fifth Witness, and the third season on The Gods of Guilt.
