New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is questioning Tahawwur Hussain Rana, who conspired the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. The NIA is trying to uncover the larger conspiracy behind the attacks that took place in 2008. Rana has been kept in a highly secure cell at the NIA headquarters located in CGO Complex, Delhi. Security personnel are monitoring him around the clock. Rana is being treated like an ordinary prisoner, and his religious needs are also being taken care of. He is being questioned about the people he met before the attacks and his connections with organizations like the ISI.

An official stated that Rana is being treated like any other arrested individual, with no special treatment. He had requested a copy of the Quran, which has been provided to him. He has been offering prayers five times a day in his cell located in the agency’s headquarters. Besides the Quran, Rana also requested a pen and paper, which have been granted to him. However, he is under strict watch to ensure he does not use the pen to harm himself.

According to the court’s order, Rana is allowed to meet with the lawyer provided by the Delhi Legal Services Authority (DLSA) every other day. A medical check-up is also being conducted every 48 hours. Another official confirmed that all procedures are being followed, as with other arrested individuals.

After his extradition from the United States, a court in Delhi had remanded Rana into the custody of the investigating agency for 18 days. Subsequently, Rana was brought to the NIA headquarters on Friday morning, April 11. NIA officials are continuously interrogating Tahawwur Rana. They are trying to ascertain his role in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.

According to sources from PTI, investigators are interrogating him based on several crucial pieces of information. This includes dozens of phone calls made with David Coleman Headley. Headley is an American citizen and is serving a sentence in a US prison for being involved in this conspiracy. Rana is also being questioned about the people he met before the attacks, especially about a key contact in Dubai, whom officials believe may have knowledge of the plans for the attack in Mumbai.

The 64-year-old Canadian businessman is originally from Pakistan. He is also suspected of having connections with Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI and the terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba, which carried out the attacks in Mumbai.
