'Easy To Sit In Studio And...': Shardul Thakur Roasts Commentators

Shardul Thakur, who went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction, was later picked up by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as a replacement for the injured Mohsin Khan. Since joining the squad, Thakur has been delivering impressive performances consistently.

Following LSG's recent win over Gujarat Titans, the pacer didn’t hold back in expressing his frustration toward the commentary panel.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Shardul said, “I’ve always believed our bowling unit has done well this season. But often, during commentary, bowlers face harsh criticism. People need to understand that the game is evolving—scores over 200 are becoming common.”

"Like you said, criticism will always be there, especially from commentators. It’s easy to sit in a studio and comment on someone’s bowling, but they don’t see the real picture out there on the ground," Shardul added.

Thakur has been a standout performer for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) this season, picking up 11 wickets in six matches. He currently holds the second spot in the race for the Purple Cap, just behind CSK's Noor Ahmed, who leads with 12 wickets.

In the match against Gujarat Titans, Shardul claimed 2 wickets for 34 runs in his four overs, helping Lucknow secure a six-wicket win and further strengthen their position in the tournament.

With their win against Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants have climbed to third place on the IPL 2025 points table. They now have eight points from six matches.

"Credit to us that we’ve defended scores on two occasions when we batted first. We put up a good score, the pitch became better for batting and even with drastic changes, we managed to defend, one game by 10 runs, one by 4 runs in Kolkata," Shardul said.
