New Metro Station: When a metro corridor is built for the extension of a metro line, a new station of the same metro line is not built near the starting station, but in Phase 4, a new metro station will be built in Indralok for the Indralok-Indraprastha corridor. This too when it is a part of the Green Line.
For the first time, the process of building a new metro station near the current station on the same metro line (Green Line) has started. When the new station is ready and metro operations start, the operation of metro trains from the current station of Green Line in Indralok will stop.
The current station and its platform will be used as a mall or shop for commercial activities. Currently, stations of Green Line (Bahadurgarh-Indralok-Kirti Nagar) and Red Line (Rithala-Shaheed Sthal New Bus Adda Ghaziabad) already exist in Indralok.
Both stations are adjacent to each other
Both of these are interchange stations and both stations are adjacent to each other. Now in Phase 4, a new corridor of 12.377 km is to be built between Indralok and Indraprastha. 1.028 km of it will be elevated and the rest will be underground.
In March last year, the Central Government had approved the construction of this corridor. This corridor is an extension project of the current Green Line, but due to the Green Line and Red Line stations being adjacent in Indralok, it is not possible to extend the Green Line corridor and construct it further.
DMRC said this about building a new station
Therefore, the design of the current Green Corridor near Indralok will also be changed. This is the reason why Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has started the tender process for the construction of a new station, elevated corridor, ramp and foot overbridge (FOB) at Indralok for the Indralok-Indraprastha corridor at a cost of Rs 117.16 crore.
DMRC says that it is necessary to build a new station keeping in mind the needs of metro operations. Later, the platform of this new Indralok station will be used for direct metro service between Indraprastha to Mundka and Bahadurgarh and the platform of the current station will be used as property development. The concourse of the current station and the new station will be connected by FOB.
Proposed stations
Inderlok, Dayabasti, Sarai Rohilla, Ajmal Khan Park, Nabi Karim, New Delhi, Loknayak Hospital, Delhi Gate, Delhi Secretariat and Indraprastha.
There will be five interchange stations on the corridor
Inderlok, Nabi Karim, New Delhi, Delhi Gate and Indraprastha.
