'Deewar Mein Sar Maarke Kya...': Nushrratt Bharuccha Admits Feeling 'Hurt' After Being Replaced By Ananya Panday In Dream Girl 2

Actress Nushrratt Bharuccha, who had starred alongside Ayushmann Khurrana in the 2019 film, Dream Girl, a film that was loved by the audience and praised her portrayal of Mahi Rajput, was replaced by Ananya Panday in Dream Girl 2, which was released in 2023. Years after the film's release, she revealed that she felt 'hurt' when she wasn't asked to be a part of the sequel, especially after discovering that the entire cast, except for her, was included in the second part.

"It hurt me even more when I wasn’t a part of my own sequel, especially when every other actor was the same—except the girl (the female lead). I felt that was not cool," Nushrratt told Nayandeep Rakshit on his talk show. Further, Bharuccha stated that she couldn't fight for something when she knew that nothing would change.

"What do I fight? What am I going to say—'Why not me?' Okay, they’ll say, 'We don’t want you.' That’s the truth of it. And it ends there. Eventually, it's a choice someone is making. I can’t question that choice," said the 39-year-old actress.

The actress added, "The fight I can fight is by not giving up on myself—by saying, 'It’s okay. I’ll work with people who want to work with me, who value my presence on set, who believe that I will breathe life into their character and do justice to their stories and writing.'"

Bharuccha said that she would rather work with someone who may not have a big setup, position, or name, but if they genuinely want to work with her, it excites her and makes her feel valued. She added that this is how she fights back.

"Deewar mein sar maar ke kya hoga? Sir hi toothega apna. Koi baat nahi, koi aur darwaza bana lu," she concluded.

On the work front, the actress was recently seen in Chhorii 2.
