Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries SHUTS one of its key refineries in Jamnagar due to…, it has a capacity of producing…, it is world’s largest…
Reliance Industries has begun a planned 21-day maintenance shutdown at one of its key refineries in Jamnagar, Gujarat, which processes 660,000 barrels of crude oil per day. The shutdown, which started earlier this week, involves a crude processing unit and several secondary facilities, including a diesel hydrotreater, as reported by The Economic Times. The shutdown, which also affects several secondary units, including a diesel hydrotreater, is expected to disrupt the refinery’s operations temporarily.
This refinery is part of the massive Jamnagar complex, one of the world’s largest refining hubs with a combined capacity of around 1.4 million barrels per day, split between two major refineries. While one plant focuses on catering to India’s domestic fuel needs, the other primarily serves international markets. The current maintenance is being carried out on the domestic-facing facility.
The scheduled downtime is meant for regular servicing and performance checks to ensure the plant continues to operate safely and efficiently. It also helps the company stay aligned with environmental and safety regulations. So far, Reliance has not released an official public statement about the shutdown.
According to a Reuters report, the unit undergoing maintenance is part of Reliance Industries’ domestic-focused refinery, which has the capacity to process about 660,000 barrels of crude oil per day. This routine servicing is part of a broader plan to keep operations smooth and efficient at Jamnagar, home to the world’s largest refining complex. The entire facility is designed to handle 1.4 million barrels per day across two refineries — one dedicated to meeting India’s fuel demand, and the other focused on exports.
Mukesh Ambani’s Leadership at Reliance
Mukesh Ambani, who serves as the Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), plays a central role in steering the company’s growth. Under his leadership, Reliance has expanded far beyond oil refining into areas such as petrochemicals, natural gas exploration, retail, telecommunications, and digital services.
Ambani has been instrumental in transforming Jamnagar into a global energy hub, placing India on the map in the world of energy and infrastructure.
