IPL 2025: Blow For Gujarat Titans As Glenn Phillips Returns Home Due To Groin Injury
After Kagiso Rabada returned home from IPL 2025 due to personal reasons, Gujarat Titans have suffered another blow in their campaign as all-rounder Glenn Phillips' groin injury has ruled him out of the remainder of matches. The explosive all-rounder has exited the Gujarat Titans' set-up in the wake of the injury.
The dynamic New Zealand all-rounder sustained the injury while fielding during the game against the SunRisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Phillips tweaking his groin meant that he needed the support staff's assistance to get him back up and help him back to the pavilion.
The Titans released a statement which said:
"Glenn Phillips has returned to New Zealand following a groin injury he sustained during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 6. Gujarat Titans wish Glenn a speedy recovery."
The 28-year-old hadn't featured in any of Titans' games and is unclear whether the franchise will seek a replacement. The overseas players now available for the 2022 champions are Jos Buttler, Sherfane Rutherford, Rashid Khan, Gerald Coetzee, and Karim Janat.
Gujarat Titans to face Lucknow Super Giants on Saturday
Meanwhile, the Titans are scheduled to face the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 12, Saturday at the Ekana International Stadium.
After losing their opening game to the Punjab Kings, the Titans have registered four consecutive victories and are second in the points table. The Super Giants, meanwhile, are coming off a narrow four-run win over the Kolkata Knight Riders.
