Air pollution turning India’s rainfall more acidic, shows study
A 34-year study by IMD and IITM reveals a concerning trend of increasingly acidic rainfall in India, particularly in Visakhapatnam, Prayagraj, and Mohanbari. While not yet critical, declining pH levels indicate rising acidity due to industrial and urban pollution. Pune shows a significant pH decrease, while natural dust neutralizes acidity in Jodhpur and Srinagar.
