Waqf Bill will ensure transparency, reduce disputes: Khattar
Union Power Minister and former Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar said amendments to the Waqf Board Bill will bring transparency and reduce disputes related to Waqf Board land.
“Earlier, decisions by the Waqf Board could not be challenged in court. With the amendment, a person now has the right to appeal Waqf Board decisions in court. The Muslim community has welcomed this move, as it is expected to benefit them and resolve ongoing issues,” said Khattar while interacting with mediapersons at PWD Rest House, where Muslim community members welcomed him and expressed happiness on amendments in the Bill. Later, Khattar visited the residence of BJP leader Trilochan Singh in Model Town.
On being asked about the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Minister said the PM would visit Haryana on April 14 to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for several major development projects in the state.
“PM Modi will visit both Hisar and Yamunanagar. In Hisar, the PM will inaugurate the much-awaited Hisar airport, with the first flight scheduled to take off for Ayodhya. The airport will be Haryana’s first state-owned airport. Plans are underway to launch additional flights from there in the near future," he said.
The Union Minister further shared that in Yamunanagar, the PM will lay the foundation stone for a new 800 MW thermal power plant. “Currently, Yamunanagar already houses 600 MW of thermal capacity. The addition of a new 800 MW plant will significantly boost the power supply in the state,” he added.
On the removal of senior Congress leader Capt Ajay Yadav from the post of state president of Congress OBC Cell, Khattar said, “Ajay Yadav is a very mature and balanced leader. However, the way the Congress functions tends to disturb its own workers. Their working style often leaves even their dedicated members disheartened. When Congress workers look around for alternatives, they find no other path except the BJP.”
About a possible threat to wheat crop from change of weather, the former CM said, “There is a possibility of rainfall. Still, the government and administration are fully alert. We are taking steps to ensure farmers do not suffer any losses.”
