Cops attach drug peddlers’ properties worth Rs 1.2 crore in Anantnag

In a continued crackdown on drug trafficking under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, Anantnag Police have attached properties worth approximately Rs 1.2 crore in multiple cases across the district.

An official of the Anantnag police said: “The police attached a single-storey residential house along with one kanal of land at Sallar, Anantnag, under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act." The property belongs to Bashir Ahmad Wani, a resident of Sallar, who is involved in a narcotics case registered at Police Station Srigufwara concerning the recovery of a large quantity of poppy straw. The attached property is estimated to be worth Rs 70 lakh.

In another case under Section 8/20-29 of the NDPS Act at the Bijbehara police station, the police seized a residential house and a vehicle owned by Tajdar Amin Khan of Goriwan, Bijbehara, as well as a shopping complex belonging to Bilal Ahmad Itoo of Gund Nasir, Bijbehara.

Additionally, in a separate case registered under Sections 8/15-29 NDPS Act at the same police station, a vehicle owned by Harjinder Singh, a resident of Mubarak Pur in Kapurthala, Punjab, was also attached.

The total estimated market value of the properties attached across these cases is Rs 1.2 crore. The police also appealed to the public to remain alert and report any suspicious drug-related activities in their areas.
