'King's Reign Continues': Mohamed Salah To Remain At Anfield After Signing Contract Extension With Liverpool; Video

Liverpool on Friday announced that Mohamed Salah will remain at the club as he signed a two year extension contract. In the past there had been rumours about the Egyptian heading to Saudi as his current contract was set to expire at the end of the season. However he now remain s committed to the club.

Salah joined Liverpool from Roma in 2017 and has since won the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup with the club. He was one of three key players whose contracts were due to expire this summer, alongside right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold and centre-back Virgil van Dijk.

Salah’s previous contract was reportedly worth over £350,000 a week, making him the highest-paid player in Liverpool’s history.

In the past he has been regularly linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, and in 2023, Liverpool turned down a £150 million offer from Al-Ittihad for him. However, Liverpool manager Arne Slot said in January that he wanted Salah to stay and believed the player was “wise enough to make the right decision” about his future.

Mo Salah on signing contract extension

Speaking about extending his stay at Anfield, Salah said, “Of course I’m very excited. We have a great team now. Before also we had a great team. But I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football. It’s great, I had my best years here. I played eight years, hopefully it’s going to be 10. Enjoying my life here, enjoying my football. I had the best years in my career.

He added,“I would like to say to [the fans], I am very, very happy to be here. I signed here because I believe we can win a lot of big trophies together. Keep supporting us and we’ll give it our best, and hopefully in the future we’re going to win more trophies.”
