Rajgarh (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh Youth Congress has labelled severe allegations of supporting child marriage against Rajgarh BJP district president Gyan Singh Gurjar. Sharing his picture from the event, the Madhya Pradesh Congress alleged that the BJP leader went to give 'shagun' at the 'engagement ceremony' of a minor girl.
The picture shows Rajgarh BJP district president Gyan Singh Gurjar giving blessings to a little girl dressed in a lehenga. The picture went viral in no time, leading to the political uproar.
Gurjar was quick to clarify. He said that there is a difference between engagement and marriage ceremonies, suggesting the marriage has only been fixed now, and the girl will be wedded off only when she turns an adult.

Many Congress workers shared the picture and said that when the government itself is running a campaign against child marriage, senior BJP leaders are giving the opposite message by openly participating in such events.
Congress demanded strict action
Congress has accused the BJP leader of promoting the evil practice of child marriage and has called it a step that spreads a wrong message in the society.
At the same time, in his defense, district president Gyan Singh Gurjar said that engagement and marriage are two different traditions and the marriage will take place only after the girl becomes an adult. Congress has demanded strict action from the administration.
