Kartik joins Chennai Super Kings as IPL intern bowler
In a proud moment for the city and CT Public School, Kartik Chadha (21) has been selected as an intern bowler for the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings for the ongoing 2025 season.
A remarkable all-rounder and an alumnus of CT Public School, Kartik is known for his dynamic left-handed middle-order batting and sharp right-arm leg spin. He has come a long way from school cricket to the grand stage of IPL.
In 2017, he represented India in the U-14 HKSZ World Cup held in Dubai, followed by participation in the U-14 School Nationals the same year. He continued to impress in 2018, playing in the U-17 School States. In 2019, he was honoured as the Best All-Rounder in the Punjab District Games Tournament (U-16). The same year, he clinched the prestigious ML Markan Trophy.
Kartik also earned a spot representing Punjab in the BCCI’s Vijay Merchant Trophy in 2019. In the 2021-22 U-19 Punjab Tournament, playing for Jalandhar district, Kartik emerged as the highest wicket-taker, claiming a phenomenal 36 wickets in nine matches.
Currently playing for Jalandhar in the U-23 category, Kartik has maintained his stellar performance, taking 26 wickets in the Days Tournament, 13 wickets in the One-Day format, and nine wickets in the Sher-e-Punjab Cup—the highest among all leg spinners. He also topped the Senior One-Day Inter-District Tournament organised by the Punjab Cricket Association by picking up 16 wickets in six matches.
To celebrate the milestone, a felicitation ceremony was held at CT Public School. The event was graced by Dr Anurag Sharma, Director of CT Group of Institutions, along with Principal Saroj Chauhan and Vice-Principal Sukhdeep Kaur. They lauded Kartik’s hard work, expressing pride in his achievements.
On the occasion, Kartik’s father Vikas Chadha shared his heartfelt emotions saying that, “It’s a proud moment not only for our family but for everyone who has been a part of Kartik’s journey. The support from the school, his coaches and mentors has played a vital role in shaping his cricket career.”
