Striking chord with students, parents important, says MLA
While teachers at government schools remained busy in boosting admissions Amargarh legislator Jaswant Singh Gajjan Majra visited schools in the region and called upon other elected representatives from local bodies to associate with the ‘Punjab Sikhya Kranti’ campaign, launched by the state
government.
Deviating from the protocol for formal functions at educational institutes, Gajjan Majra chose to spend more time with the students and their parents to boost morale.
“Though I do accept bouquets and sweets, offered by the organisers of functions, I prefer to sit among students before and after sharing my views,” said Gajjan Majra, maintaining the striking a chord with students and their parents was more important to him than making false claims. He appreciated the region’s councillors and sarpanches for responding positively to the ‘Punjab Sikhya Kranti’ campaign, irrespective of their political allegiance.
Earlier, the Amargarh legislator had claimed to have initiated development works to the tune of Rs 2.56 crore at various government schools falling under the Amargarh and Ahmedgarh subdivisions. Elaborate functions were held to inaugurate construction of rooms and lavatories, besides installing ROs at the Government Senior Smart School in Amargarh, the School of Eminence in Bagrian and the Government Primary School at Mohala
on Wednesday.
Reiterating that the Punjab Government was poised to enable the poorest among the poor to send their wards to schools, Gajjan Majra said the campaign was aimed at preparing government school students for competitive examinations at the state and national levels.
