Cross-border drug peddler arrested with 18.2 kg of heroin in Amritsar village
In a major seizure, the Anti Narcotic Task Force here has seized 18.22 kg of heroin from Khaira village falling under the Gharinda police station here.
It has arrested Hira Singh, who is accused of having close links with Pakistan-based anti-national entities and smugglers.
“In a well-coordinated operation, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force, Border Range, Amritsar, apprehends Hira Singh of Khaira village in Gharinda in Amritsar and recovers 18.227 kg heroin," said Gaurav Yadav, DGP, Punjab Police, on X.
As per preliminary probe, Hira Singh and his associate Kulwinder Singh of Dauke border village were linked to a Pakistan-based drug trafficker identified as Billa. They were smuggling heroin from across the border and supplying it as per the trafficker’s instructions.
The DGP said raids were under way to nab Kulwinder Singh and forward and backward links of the duo were being established to dismantle the entire network.
