Campus notes: CM Mann visits Doon International

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann visited Doon International School on Wednesday before laying the foundation stone of the new unit to be set up in Verka Milk Plant. School Managing Committee Chairman Rajiv Sharma and members of the school management welcomed him. Minister for Public Works and Power Harbhajan Singh ETO, Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, MLA Jeevanjot Kaur, Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar and other administrative officers were present on the occasion. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that he has come to this school for the second time.

DAV student first in biotechnology

Students of Bsc Biotechnology of fifth semester at DAV College have performed excellently well in the recently declared GNDU results. Jasvenus Kaur has bagged the first position in university exams by securing 330 marks out of 360. College principal Dr Amardeep Gupta, while expressing his happiness, said that it was a proud moment for the college. Dr Gupta honoured the outstanding students and praised the efforts of the department for helping the students in getting good results. He further wished all the achievers a bright and brilliant future and mentioned that the DAV College will continue to support them in all their upcoming ventures for their overall development. Prof Vikas Gupta, Head, Department of Biotechnology, said he was proud of the students of his department. He said that the students always work hard and take initiative in every field. As per the requirements of students, extra classes are also being organised by the department.

Spectacular Fashion Show

The Department of Apparel and Textile Technology of Guru Nanak Dev University organised a skill presentation event, “Vastra Mahaostav 2025”, at Dashmesh Auditorium of the university. The main objective of the event was to explore the innovative ideas of the department’s emerging fashion designers students and provide them with a platform to showcase their skills. The students designed and prepared the dresses on their own in the labs with novelty. A total of four themes were prepared with unique and creative lieimotif like Vitiligo, Elements of Earth, Gothic, Victorian era, Egyptian etc. The interesting part of the event was participation of university students and faculty children as models. Prof Balwinder Singh, co-ordinator, Golden Jubilee Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, presided over the event as chief guest along with Dr ML Singh, Director, Malviya Mission Teacher Training Centre, as guest of honour. Dr Harpreet Kaur, Assistant Professor and Head, PG department of Fashion Designing at KMV College, Jalandhar, Dr Beenu Kapoor, Associate Professor and Head, PG department of Home Science & Fashion Designing at BBK DAV College for Women, Barun Kaur Mann (Anchor at DD Punjabi, RJ at All India Radio, fashion designer, model & fashion choreographer), were the esteemed judges.
