Unseasonal weather has caused widespread destruction across several states in northern India, especially Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Over the past 24 hours, heavy rainfall, strong winds, hailstorms, and lightning have led to tragic loss of life and property damage. In Bihar, 29 people have died due to lightning strikes and storm-related incidents. Nalanda reported 18 deaths alone, while fatalities were also recorded in Siwan, Katihar, Darbhanga, Begusarai, Bhagalpur, and Jehanabad. The unseasonal weather also destroyed crops across large areas, adding to the distress of already struggling farmers. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed deep condolences and announced compensation for the victims' families. In Uttar Pradesh, 22 people lost their lives due to similar weather conditions. The state reported 45 animal deaths and 15 houses damaged. CM Yogi Adityanath has announced ₹44 lakh in compensation for the affected families. Lucknow and other districts witnessed severe waterlogging, hailstorms, and fallen trees.Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh were also hit, with reports of cloudbursts, hail, and landslides causing panic. In Shimla, orchards were damaged due to hail. While the rains brought relief from heat, they left behind a trail of devastation in their wake.
