Bad news for iPhone lovers in India as Apple smartphone may cost three times more if made…, new price may be Rs…
According to reports, a big disappointment is coming iPhone lovers’ way. If reports are to be believed, if Apple started making iPhones entirely in the US, the price could shoot up to $3,500(Rs 3 lakh) — that’s nearly triple the current cost.
The US government recently introduced tariffs on goods from other countries, hoping to encourage companies to bring manufacturing jobs back to America. President Donald Trump believes this move will help create millions of new jobs and boost local industries.
However, some experts think this plan could make the smartphone much more expensive for consumers.
According to report, if Apple made iPhones entirely in the United States, the price of each phone could jump to around $3,500(Rs 3 lakh). An iPhone, currently, will cost around $1,000. The huge price hike would be due to the high cost of building and maintaining advanced factories in the US.
Meanwhile, according to reports, Apple reportedly rushed shipments of iPhones from India (and other markets) to the United States in late March, using five aircraft to beat the deadline for new US tariffs. The operation, carried out over just three days, was aimed at avoiding a 10 per cent reciprocal duty imposed by the Trump administration, which took effect on April 5
