Campus notes: GNDU exam results

BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, performed brilliantly in the GNDU university examinations, with students showcasing commendable performance. Sarika, a student of B.Sc (IT, Semester-III), made the institution proud by winning first position in the district with a remarkable 8.40 CGPA. Principal Dr Pushpinder Walia extended heartfelt congratulations to Sarika and other meritorious students, as well as the dedicated faculty. She lauded their hard work and perseverance and encouraged them to maintain this academic momentum in the future as well. World Health Day at Ashok Vatika

Principal Anchal Mahajan presided over the ‘World Health Day’ celebrations in Ashok Vatika Public School emphasising on the theme, ‘Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures’. She encouraged the students to adopt a healthy lifestyle. To mark the occasion, a variety of engaging and educational activities were organised for the students. The day began with a special morning assembly. The students shared thoughtful messages and facts about health and well-being. Another exciting activity was the yoga asana session. One of the key highlights of the celebration was the slogan-writing competition and poster-making activity, where students used their artistic and creative skills to present slogans on the theme of health and messages about fitness, hygiene and nutrition. The celebration also included a fun and unique ‘Healthy Tiffin Contest’ in which students brought nutritious meals from home.

CKD hands over school buses

The Chief Khalsa Diwan handed over ultra-modern 30+1 and 42+1 seater school buses to the administrators of Sri Guru Harkrishan Senior Secondary School, Abdal, Burj Marhana and Batala. Additional Secretary of Chief Khalsa Diwan Sukhjinder Singh Prince said that these buses given to the school are equipped with new look and technologies, medical aid, GPS for route monitoring of buses and modern fire alarm protection system. He said that keeping in mind the safety and convenience of the students, the Chief Khalsa Diwan is replacing the old buses of other CKD schools with new ultra-modern, high-tech equipped buses (30+1/42+1 seater) and the number of school buses is also being increased as per the requirement. He said that the Diwan administrators have provided 37 new buses to 24 other Diwan schools including Nawan Pind, Tarn Taran, Attari, Ranjit Avenue, Patti and Batala so that students coming from far-flung villages, especially primary school children, can reach school with comfort, ease and in less time. He said that in future also, the Diwan will provide more new buses to CKD schools as per the requirement of the students to smoothly run the transport arrangements of 51 schools/colleges and other Diwan institutions running under the Chief Khalsa Diwan.

Celebrating World Health Day 2025, the Department of Botany and Environmental Sciences of Guru Nanak Dev University organised a special lecture on stress management. Head of the Department of Psychology, Dr Rupan Dhillon, Associate Professor, delivered this special lecture. Head of the Department of Botany and Environmental Sciences, Prof Rajinder Kaur, while welcoming everyone, emphasised on reducing stress in daily life. The event’s speaker, Dr Rupan Dhillon, spoke about serious concerns related to stress and mental health, explaining the early signs of stress and prevention strategies and elaborated on the negative effects of long-term stress on physical and emotional well-being, including fatigue, anxiety, mood and chronic health conditions. He suggested several measures for managing stress such as participating in physical activities, paying attention to nature, walking, meditation, time management and seeking professional help.
